Estimation of trip generation rates for residential land use in Uyo, Nigeria

Change in trip rates affects a transportation system and could lead to the redesign of transport infrastructure order satisfy new demand. This study estimates generation for residential land use Uyo using cross classification method. Five (5) estates were considered household survey carried out collect data from 500 households on purpose mode travel through interview their response recorded questionnaire. Four independent variables (household size, income, car ownership, number employed persons) used based prevailing conditions theresidential use. Cross-classification developed most significant variables; income ownership. The analysis indicated that work produced highest reported 29.6% followed by religious 24.7%. Similarly, private trips contributed 42.8% made as trip. It was found size is strongest socio-economic variable influence Uyo. cross-classification this provide basis estimation Uyo.
